I hosnetly hope you’re as excited as I am to hear about my recent dining experience at Rear Restaurant in Nola! Yes, there’s a small town in Italy with my name on it and guess what? I’ve been there! This charming little spot is located in the heart of the city and boasts an atmosphere that is both cozy and elegant, making it the perfect place for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner for two.
This is a true hidden gem in Nola, as Rear Restaurante is located inside the RO Cafe.
I went in to try their tasting menu, and let me tell you, it was a truly unforgettable experience. The menu was called L’ENFANT TERRIBLE SENIOR, and it was the perfect blend of flavors, textures, and aromas that left me in awe. And, of course, I requested wine pairing to complement each dish, which made the experience even more special.
From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was immediately impressed by the elegant decor and warm hospitality of the staff.
I was seated at a cozy corner table, surrounded by soft lighting, and with small view of the kitchen staff, which was a delight to watch because they looked so calm, nothing like Hell’s Kitchen.
The cuisine at the Rear Restaurant is a unique blend of traditional Italian flavors with a modern twist. Chef Francesco Franzese masterfully combines classic Italian dishes with unexpected ingredients to create a truly memorable dining experience. During our visit, we were able to sample a range of dishes that showcased this fusion of flavors.
One dish that stood out was the Tacos ripieno di tartare di manzetta prussiana, a unique and flavorful combination of The dish is presented on a platter shaped like a Lion’s Head, adding an extra touch of elegance and sophistication to the dining experience. The intricate details and intricate design of the platter only serve to enhance the beauty and flavor of the dish. As someone who loves anything made with corn, I was ecstatic to try the Taco as soon as I saw it. This dish truly exceeded my expectations and showcased the versatility and deliciousness of this humble grain.
I guess that many people don’t think they’ll get “street food” on a Michelin Star Restaurant, but that’s the beauty of Rear Restaurant. I were served a delicious Bao Bread that just melted in my mouth.
The Capelli d’Angelo topped with caviar is seriously heaven in a plate! I mean, you can’t go to an Italian Restaurant and not have at least one pasta dish, right? This dish is a total showstopper, combining the light and delicate angel hair pasta with the luxurious and decadent flavor of caviar. Every bite is a burst of flavor and texture, with the tender noodles balancing out the saltiness of the caviar. But wait, it gets even better! The dish is finished with a delicate sauce that ties all the flavors together, making each bite truly irresistible.
There's always room for Dessert
The dessert course was the cherry on top of an already fantastic meal! First, I was treated to a pre-dessert that was the perfect palate cleanser. It was light and refreshing, just what we needed after all those rich and delicious flavors.
And finally, the main event – the dessert! The chocolate almond and raspberry combination was simply divine. The chocolate was rich and oh-so-decadent, while the almonds added a delicious crunch and the raspberries provided the perfect touch of sweetness. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal.
Every aspect of this dessert was crafted to perfection, making it a symphony of flavors and textures. The creamy chocolate, crunchy almonds, and sweet raspberries all blended together to create a dessert that was nothing short of amazing. I savored every bite and didn’t want it to end.
The service was top-notch, with the wait staff being knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. They were able to suggest the perfect wine pairing for each dish, which made the experience even more memorable.
The wine pairing elevated the experience to new heights. Each glass was expertly selected to complement the flavors of the dish, bringing out the best in both the food and the wine. Our knowledgeable and passionate sommelier Mario was always on hand to answer any questions we had and make sure our glasses were never empty.

The blend of traditional Italian flavors with modern and unexpected ingredients makes for a truly unique and unforgettable dining experience.
